The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP) commissioned us to design and deliver new facilities for their Queens Park Campus as part of their regeneration programme. The 14000 sq ft project was split into a number of phases.

Phase 1 comprised three high end studios and in addition to the audio studios we created a new main entrance, Reception, Gear Hire and ancillary areas to compliment the studio aesthetic where light and texture plays an important role, creating an impressive space for students and visitors. 

Challenges:

• Industry standard audio facilities - are an essential part of learning, there being little point to learning on outdated equipment
• New Main Entrance and Reception area
• Flexible Performance Space with pop-up cinema

Phase 1 comprised three high end studios with equipment provided by specialist suppliers to the education sector Academia: a large live room with control room fitted out with a SSL Origin 24, a Dolby Atmos Mixing and Post Studio with a 7.4.2. Genelec speaker configuration and Avid S6 desk accompanied by a Foley Live Room and Mix Master Studio.

Phase two of the project includes a flexible events venue with performance space and pop-up cinema, plus a student café. The final phase in 2023 will see the launch of further tech suites, classrooms, tracking suites and small collaboration spaces as well as professional services.
